Abstract
Recent studies on single isolated secretory granules, as well as secre tory granules in intact cells, show that Ca2+ is released from the gra nule store into the cytosol via a messenger-mediated pathway following agonist binding. This is important for generation of localized cytoso lic Ca2+ signals which can initiate exocytosis.
