ON THE NATURAL HYBRID BETWEEN COMMON CARP (CYPRINUS-CARPIO) AND PRUSSIAN CARP (CARASSIUS-AURATUS GIBELIO) IN THE CZECH-REPUBLIC

The morphometry of a natural hybrid between Cyprinus carpio and Carass ius auratus gibelio, from the River Morava drainage basin (Czech Repub lic) is described. The hybrid (male aged 7+, SL 435 mm, w 2000g) was c haracterised mainly by blue-grey and silverish lustrous body colourati on, by the absence of a lower barbel on the right side of the mouth, b y smooth opercula and by values of several plastic characters. Of the plastic characters to be compared, 5 characters in the hybrid have the se values being in the variability range of C. auratus gibelio, only o ne character is of that in C. carpio. The postorbital distance has a h igher value, the eye diameter, on the contrary, has a lower value than those in both parental species. The values of meristic characters in the hybrid are coincident with those in common carp. The figure of the hybrid is adjoined.
