S. Kipp et R. Lacmann, SURFACE SMOOTHING OF COPPER SINGLE-CRYSTALS USING POM (POTENTIAL OSCILLATING METHOD), Crystal research and technology, 31(6), 1996, pp. 747-752
The deposition of metals is a process to get metallic coatings on meta
ls. The potential oscillating method (POM) allows dissolution and depo
sition processes in parallel. Using this method the crystal's habit be
comes more perfect, and the equilibrium form can be obtained. It is mo
stly dominated by the {111}- and the {100}-face, as usual for cubic fa
ce centered crystals. The crystallographic faces develop more clearly
and become smoother. This paper deals with the determination of the id
eal conditions for the electrochemical experiment using copper single
crystals, and the analysis of the surface topography using light micro
scopy, and scanning force microscopy.
