Abstract
The eigenvalues, the frequency responses and the variances of linear d amped systems play an important role in the dynamical analysis. Even i f these characteristics can be computed numerically, due to the large number of system parameters and variables involved it is of interest f rom a theoretical and engineering point of view to know their upper an d lower bounds, respectively. In this paper some results from the lite rature are reviewed and extended. In particular, the numerical efficie ncy of computation of the bounds is considered, a requirement for the dynamical analysis of large structural systems which are modeled by th e finite element method.
