Abstract
Scintillation in cerium-doped gadolinium-based crystals results from t he energy transfer of excited host matrix Gd3+ ions (I-6(7/2,11/2);(6) P-7/2,P-5/2) to the Ce3+ ions {5d(1)(T-2(2))} which radiatively relax to the ground state.
