Mer. Mchale et al., SOLUBILITY OF BENZIL IN BINARY ALKANE PLUS METHYL TERT-BUTYL ETHER SOLVENT MIXTURES, Journal of chemical and engineering data, 41(5), 1996, pp. 1184-1186
Experimental solubilities are reported for benzil (1,2-diphenylethaned
ione) dissolved in six binary mixtures containing methyl tert-butyl et
her with hexane, heptane, octane, cyclohexane, methylcyclohexane and 2
,2,4-trimethylpentane at 25 degrees C. Results of these measurements a
re used to test two mathematical representations based upon the combin
ed nearly ideal binary solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kister equation and modi
fied Wilson model. For the six systems studied, the combined NIBS/Redl
ich-Kister equation was found to provide the more accurate mathematica
l representation of the experimental data, with an overall average abs
olute deviation between measured and calculated values being on the or
der of 0.3%. Slightly larger deviations were noted in the case of the
modified Wilson equation.
