Mer. Mchale et al., SOLUBILITY OF ANTHRACENE IN BINARY ALKANE PLUS METHYL TERT-BUTYL ETHER SOLVENT MIXTURES AT 298.15 K, Journal of chemical and engineering data, 41(5), 1996, pp. 1203-1205
Experimental solubilities are reported for anthracene dissolved in sev
en binary mixtures containing methyl tert-butyl ether (also called 2-m
ethoxy-2-methylpropane) with hexane, heptane, octane, cyclohexane, met
hylcyclohexane, 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, and tert-butylcyclohexane (als
o called (1,1-dimethylethyl)cyclohexane) at 25 degrees C. Results of t
hese measurements are used to test two mathematical representations ba
sed upon the combined nearly ideal binary solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kiste
r equation and modified Wilson model. For the seven systems studied, b
oth equations were found to provide an accurate mathematical represent
ation of the experimental data, with an overall average absolute devia
tion between measured and calculated values being on the order of 0.5%
