This article outlines a computational method to analyze the characteri
stic parameters of sinuous antennas. The basic idea is that, after exa
mining the behavior of this antenna with our wire model in detail, we
shall be able to optimize it and to study the coupling effects between
such antennas in the H and E planes. To test whether the theory is a
reasonable approximation, our numerical results are compared with a se
t of experimental data and with other numerical data obtained with a p
lanar moment method. The advantages of this technique are that it feat
ures a smaller moment matrix and less computation time than a planar n
umerical method. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
