Abstract
1,2-Bis(trimethylsilyl)-1,2-diphenylethane and its homologues were syn thesized and the studies on their electrochemical behavior revealed th at there is definite interaction between the sigma,pi-interaction syst em (the C-Si bonds and the benzene rings) and the sigma,sigma-interact ion system (the neighboring C-Si bonds) which causes significant decre ase of the oxidation potentials.
