Fi. Yershov et al., INTERFERON SYSTEM DISORDERS IN PATIENTS W ITH VIRUS-ASSOCIATED AND CHLAMYDIAL INFECTIONS, Voprosy virusologii, 41(4), 1996, pp. 172-174
A more than 80% incidence of herpes simplex virus, cytomegalovirus, an
d chlamydial infection was revealed in 58 patients with various gyneco
logical diseases. In 50% cases the infection was mixed. An appreciable
reduction of the gamma-interferon system was detected in 20 patients,
which was caused by a concomitant infectious process, possibly provok
ing the development of the underlying disease. Treatment of such patie
nts should include antiviral and antichlamydial therapy, as well as co
rrection of defects in interferon production.
