Yg. Zdesenko et al., LEAD MOLYBDATE AS A LOW-TEMPERATURE SCINTILLATOR IN THE EXPERIMENTAL SEARCH FOR THE NEUTRINOLESS DOUBLE BETA-DECAY OF MO-100, Instruments and experimental techniques, 39(3), 1996, pp. 362-366
It is found that lead molybdate (PbMoO4) single crystals can be used a
s scintillators if cooled to liquid-nitrogen temperatures. Luminescent
and spectrometric characteristics of these crystals are reported. The
possibilities of using PbMoO4 scintillators in the search for 2 beta
0v-decay of Mo-100 are analyzed. The presence of radioactive Rb-210 Wi
th the specific activity of 0.07-0.19 Bq/g was revealed in a number of
samples by measuring the radioactive background in the crystals.
