Abstract
As pressures from government, insurance companies, communities, and in dividual consumers to lower the cost and improve health care quality i ncrease, various health care performance measures have emerged as crit ical elements for cost containment. Previous research has not addresse d the issue of standard performance measures for the health care indus try. This paper has attempted to review the current literature and sug gest future directions for both practitioners and researchers.
