Patern of morphological variations of 24 cultivars of chilli (Capsicum
annutum L.) was studied by metroglyph and index score method. Differe
nt cultivars were found to segregate in different ways with a tendency
to increasing in number of leaf at first flowering and that of at max
imum flowerin - two most variable characters used for X and Y axis. Ap
parently there were three clusters. The large one (Cluster I) was comp
rised of fifteen, cluster II of four and cluster In of three cultivars
. One cultivar (14) was found to be located distantly from cluster III
. The off location of the glyph representing one cultivar (18) was ano
ther striking feature in this study. The rays pattern in the glyph amo
ng clusters revealed a variation for the presence or absence of rays.
Two-third of the cultivars in this study indicated same pattern of gen
etic grouping.
