Sh. Mirza et al., GENETIC-STUDIES OF INTERRELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SEED YIELD AND ITS COMPONENTS IN LINSEED (LINUM-USITATISSIMUM L), Bangladesh journal of botany, 25(2), 1996, pp. 197-201
Thirty genotypes of linseed were evaluated at the Oilseed Research Cen
tre, BARI, Gazipur during rabi 1992-93. Analysis of variance showed si
gnificant differences among the genotypes in all respects except prima
ry branches per plant and seed weight. High phenotypic and genotypic c
oefficients of variation were observed in yield per plant, harvest ind
ex, capsules per plant and plant height Heritability alongwith genetic
advance as percentage of mean was high for plant height, harvest inde
x, seed yield per plant and capsules per plant. The harvest index and
capsules per plant also showed significant positive correlation with y
ield at phenotypic, genotypic and environmental level. Path analysis s
howed highest positive direct effect for days to flowering, capsules p
er plant and harvest index. The study suggested that days to flowering
, capsules per plant and harvest index were the most important yield c
ontributing characters and attempt should be made for effective select
ion on these characters.
