Abstract
The synthesis of new 4-(bindolyl)-1,2-naphthoquinones is achieved by c ondensation of an indole with a 1,2-naphthoquinone. Optimal yields are obtained by the complexation of 1,2-naphthoquinones with cerium chlor ide in 1-butanol. A 1/1 mixture of NalO3/indole is then added to the c omplex and the 4-(3-indolyl)-1,2-naphthoquinone is obtained in quantit ative yield.
