THE COMPOSITE INTERNATIONAL DIAGNOSTIC INTERVIEW POSTTRAUMATIC-STRESS-DISORDER MODULE - PRELIMINARY DATA

The Composite International Diagnostic Interview Post Traumatic Stress Disorder module (CIPI-PTSD) was tested in five sites. 91 subjects wer e given the CIDI-PTSD and an independent clinician completed a diagnos tic checklist for DSM-IIIR and ICD10 diagnoses. The internal consisten cy of the scale was acceptable for DSM-IIIR (Cronbach's alpha=0.86) an d for ICD10 (Cronbach's alpha=0.76). The concurrent validity of the CI DI-PTSD with diagnoses made by a clinician was good for ICD10 diagnose s (kappa=0.66) but poor for DSM-IIIR diagnoses (kappa=0.26). When the criterion addressing duration of the disorder for DSM-IIIR was removed , however, the agreement between the CIDI-PTSD and the clinical diagno sis was much improved (kappa=0.55). On the basis of these preliminary data, it is concluded that the CIDI-PTSD be examined further as a diag nostic instrument for PTSD.
