Syntheses of six -2-carboxy-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,5-benzothiazepines ha
ving as the substituent fluoro, chloro, bromo, alkyl-methyl, alkoxyl-m
ethoxyl and ethoxyl have been achieved by the reaction of 5-substitute
d-2-aminobenzenethiols with beta(-p-fluorobenzoyl)acrylic acid in etha
nol saturated with hydrogen chloride gas. The products were tested for
purity by TLC. Microestimation of nitrogen, IR and H-1 NMR & mass spe
ctral studies have been used for the assignment of structures to the t
itle compounds.
