Hydrogen bonds involving water molecules dominate the crystal structur
es of N-saccharinperacetic acid monohydrate (3-oxo-2H-1,2-benzisothiaz
ole-2-peroxyethoic acid 1,1-dioxide monohydrate, C9H7NO6S.H2O) and N-s
accharinpentanoic acid monohydrate (3-oxo-2H- 1,2-benzisothiazole-2-pe
ntanoic acid I,l-dioxide monohydrate, C12H13NO5S.H2O) In both structur
es, molecules are held together by these hydrogen bonds to form two-di
mensional blocks. Interdigitation of saccharin groups between adjacent
blocks completes the three-dimensional structure.
