New upper-rim bis[rhenium(I) bipyridyl, ruthenium(II) bis(bipyridyl), cobaltocenium]calix[4] arene receptors exhibit remarkable dihydrogen p hosphate selective anion recognition properties dictated by the relati ve positions of lower-rim tosyl substituents.
