GROUND-STATE ENERGIES AND WIDTHS OF HE-5 AND LI-5 NUCLEI

We extract energies and widths of the ground states of He-5 and Li-5 f rom recent single-level R-matrix fits to the spectra of the H-3(d,gamm a)He-5 and He-3(d,gamma)Li-5 reactions. The widths obtained differ sig nificantly from the formal R-matrix values but they are close to those measured as full widths at half maxima of the spectra in various expe riments. The energies are somewhat lower than those given by usual est imates of the peak positions. The extracted values are close to the S- matrix poles calculated previously from the multiterm analyses of the N-He-4 elastic scattering data.
