Abstract
Three ac motors are compared for application in high-performance contr olled drives: induction, brushless, and synchronous reluctance motors. Their design is optimized under common design assumptions. Then, the given stall-torques are compared to each other. In addition, the quadr ature reactances are compared, as affecting overload and flux-weakenin g performances. Last, applicative considerations are given, thus defin ing the most suitable solution for each field.
