Abstract
5Gbit/s unrepeatered transmission is successfully carried out over 360 km of non-dispersion shifted fibre (NDSF) without dispersion compensat ion, for the first time. Degradation caused by fibre nonlinearity and dispersion is overcome by reducing optical signal bandwidth.
