Abstract
Optical investigations were performed in CdBr2-PbBr2 layered crystals. It was found that photoluminescence spectra drastically change at low temperatures and luminescence centers arise due to the PbBr2 doping. Phase transitions in the doped CdBr2-PbBr2 systems are most probably c aused by the so called ''bending'' waves and have close relation to th e enhancement of second harmonic generation.
