Experimental data on photoconductivity in gamma-irradiated 3-methylpen
tane glass are considered for the case when most of radiation produced
trapped electrons forms geminate pairs with their parent positive ion
s. It is assumed that mobile electrons generated by photoexcitation of
trapped electrons have an excess energy and there is a thermalized mo
bile precursor of stable trapped electrons which is governed by Smoluc
howski's equation. The model allows to describe experimental data on p
hotocurrent kinetics. It predicts that for geminate trapped electrons,
apart from ''free'' or not geminate electrons, photocurrent depends o
n the thermalization ranges of photoliberated electrons even if nonthe
rmalized electrons are not affected by electric field.
