Abstract
The preparation of microspheres of chitosan or chitosan linked to trie thylene glycol glutarate containing progesterone is described and the correlations between the formulative parameters and the functional pro perties analysed. Higher loading levels and water uptake were observed for the substituted micromatrices. Kinetics approaching zero order we re observed in each case, and the approach was more evident for the ch itosan substituted micromatrices. These effects are analysed in terms of polymer/drug interactions as determined by the phase solubility dia grams.
