S. Berteverrando et al., NEW ROUTE TO AMINO [H-2(2)]METHYLPHOSPHONIC ACID VIA BIS(TRIFLUOROETHYL) PHOSPHONATE TRANSESTERIFICATION, Journal of the Chemical Society. Perkin transactions. I, (24), 1995, pp. 3125-3127
Transesterification of bis(trifluoroethyl) chloromethyl- and azidometh
yl-phosphonates with alcohols in the presence of catalytic quantities
of alcoholates gives dialkyl chloromethyl- and azidomethyl-phosphonate
s in good yield. This process has been used for the synthesis of diben
zyl azido[H-2(2)]methylphosphonate which has been reduced and hydrogen
olised to amino[H-2(2)]methylphosphonic acid under neutral conditions.
