F. Helus et al., CONTRIBUTION TO THE CYCLOTRON TARGETRY .4. MEASUREMENT OF F-18, NA-21, AND NE-23 PRODUCTION YIELDS IN DEUTERON INDUCED REACTION ON NEON GAS, Journal of radioanalytical and nuclear chemistry, 198(1), 1995, pp. 247-252
The radionuclide F-18 is of considerable interest for biochemical and
physiological studies using positron emission tomography (PET). Of all
methods used for its production only two have found wide application
since their yield is high enough and the chemical form of the is suita
ble for fluorination of organic compounds. Proton irradiation of enric
hed water using O-18(p,n)F-18 reaction and deuteron bombardment of gas
eous neon Ne-20(d,alpha)F-18 process are the commonly used effective c
yclotron production procedures. In our previous papers(1,2) the differ
ent reactions and target parameters of the deuteron irradiation of neo
n gas were reported. In the present work, the production yields for th
e (d,alpha),(d,n) and (d,p) reactions were determined.
