The results of a study of the spectral variations in the CP2 star HD 2
20825 = kappa Psc are presented. It is shown that with the refined rot
ation period P = 1.(d)418, the photometric and spectral variations, as
well as the hydrogen-line and magnetic-held variations, are in phase
or out of phase with each other, typical of most of the CP stars. The
surface distribution of chromium derived for kappa Psc shows a ring st
ructure with an axis that is nearly coincident with the assumed axis o
f the magnetic held. The oxygen abundance has been estimated from the
O I lambda 5330 Angstrom line to be log (O/H) = -3.3; the possible var
iability of the O I lines is discussed. The distribution of chromium o
ver the stellar surface is considered in terms of the diffusion of the
element in the presence of a magnetic held.
