An efficient method has been developed for solving the inverse problem
of Doppler-Zeeman mapping of magnetic, chemically peculiar stars. A r
egularized iteration method is used to simultaneously solve the integr
al equations for the Stokes I and V parameters. The validity of analyt
ical fits for the local profiles of the Stokes parameters is substanti
ated. The algorithm has been tested on models. It is used to simultane
ously obtain a map of the distribution of a chemical element and the p
arameters of an arbitrarily shifted magnetic dipole from the observed
I and V profiles.
