Abstract
The advent of user-oriented pulsed magnetic fields combined with low t
emperature capability has opened up a new perspective on low-dimension
al, and in particular, organic conductor physics. Opportunities includ
e: the application of Fermiology methods both below and above the magn
etic field induced phase transitions in the density wave materials; th
e quest for the quantum limit in bulk low-dimensional materials; and t
he search for electron interaction effects in the quasi-one-dimensiona
l limit. This paper will focus on several such applications and direct
ions in the (BEDT-TTF)(2)MHg(SCN)(4) quasi-two-dimensional and (TMTSF)
(2)CIO4 quasi-one-dimensional organic conductors.
