High-resolution spectroscopic analysis of inelastically scattered X-ra
y K-beta radiation of Cu from polycrystalline Be and B shows some pecu
liar structure in the region of the inelastically scattered radiation.
Coherent scattering of the low-energy satellite structure of the prim
ary Cu-K-beta lines, which extends in the same low-energy region, cont
aminates the inelastic spectrum and may be responsible for the observe
d structure. This ''parasitic'' elastically scattered radiation contri
butes to the background lying under the X-ray Raman scattering data an
d its knowledge is necessary for the correct evaluation of the Raman s
pectrum.
