The antitumor, antileukemic and antimetastatic effects of the factors
of acidic polysaccharides Corynebacterium michiganese was studied in C
57BI and DBA, mice with Lewis lung carcinoma (3LL), B-16 melanoma, bre
ast carcinosarcoma, ascitic sarcoma S-37, lymphoid leukemia L 1210 or
lymphocytic leukemia P-388. The fractions of acidic polysaccharides el
uted by 0.5 M NaH2PO4 were found to inhibit the growth of 3LL carcinom
a, to hamper metastasis and possess antileukemic activity. Antimetasta
tic and antileukemic effects were also shown under the influence of th
e fractions of acidic polysaccharides eluted by 0.25 M NaH2PO4. Antile
ukemic activity of both specimens was associated with an increase in t
he duration of animals' life.
