In the present work, a mathematical procedure to determine the probabi
lity of formation of a tie molecule in polydisperse polyethylenes in t
erms of the basic morphological parameters, has been solved. The calcu
lation of the number of tie molecules is based on the values of the mo
lecular weight and the long period. The thickness of the lamellae and
the long period were determined as functions of the branch density. Pr
obability of formation of a tie molecule in polydisperse system to dif
ferent comercial grades of high density polyethylene, has been obtaine
d. This results have been compared with monodisperse data system.
