Abstract
A method is presented for the pre-processing of radiographs in the aut omated determination of skeletal maturity. By linearly combining sever al source images, a density range enhancement is obtained without the creation of edge artefacts. An increase of bit depth of 1 bit was obta ined, and density range was improved by 1 OD.
