W. Bieger et al., THE INFLUENCE OF INITIAL COMPOSITION AND OXYGEN PARTIAL-PRESSURE ON THE PROPERTIES OF MELT-TEXTURED NDBACUO, Physica. C, Superconductivity, 257(1-2), 1996, pp. 46-52
The influence of several admixtures on the microstructure formation an
d the superconducting properties is explained on the base of phase-equ
ilibrium considerations. Conditions are derived which permit the stabi
lization of Ba rich Nd-123 phase to occur which is a precondition for
preparing textured NdBaCuO materials with T-c> 90 K and a sufficient h
igh j(c). A melt-textured bulk material with T-c = 91 K and j(c)(77 K,
0 T, B parallel to c) = 21.8 kA/cm(2) was produced at p(O-2) approxim
ate to 100 Pa using an initial mixture consisting of NdBa2Cu3O7-delta
and Nd2BaO4.
