U. Baur et al., QCD CORRECTIONS AND NONSTANDARD 3 VECTOR BOSON COUPLINGS IN W- PRODUCTION AT HADRON COLLIDERS(W), Physical review. D. Particles and fields, 53(3), 1996, pp. 1098-1123
The process pp((-)) --> W+W- + X --> l(1)(+)nu(1)l(2)(-)<(nu)over bar(
2)> + X is calculated to O(alpha(s)) for general C- and P-conserving W
WV couplings (V = gamma, Z). The prospects for probing the WWV couplin
gs in this reaction are explored. The impact of O(alpha(s)) QCD correc
tions and various background processes on the observability of nonstan
dard WWV couplings in W+W- production at the Fermilab Tevatron and the
CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is discussed in detail. The transver
se momentum distribution of the charged lepton pair is found to be par
ticularly sensitive to both anomalous couplings and QCD corrections. S
ensitivity limits for anomalous WWV couplings are derived at next-to-l
eading-order for the Fermilab Tevatron and LHC center-of-mass energies
, and are compared to the bounds which can be achieved in other proces
ses. Unless a jet veto or a cut on the total transverse momentum of th
e hadrons in the event is imposed, the Q(alpha(s)) QCD corrections and
the background from top quark production decrease the sensitivity of
pp((-)) --> W+W- + X --> l(1)(+)nu(1)l(2)(-)<(nu)over bar(2)> + X to a
nomalous WWV couplings by a factor 2 to 5.
