We report on the growth of (Bi1-xPbx)(2)Sr2CaCu2O8+delta single crysta
ls. The crystals reach a maximum substitution level of x approximate t
o 0.20 accompanied by a clear increase in the wavelength of the displa
cive modulation along the b-axis, in agreement with the results of the
polycrystalline samples. Their transition temperature can be varied f
rom 90 K to 76 K by annealing in argon and oxygen respectively. We als
o introduce various modifications to the annealing procedures in order
to get very narrow transitions, as small as 0.3 K for the undoped cry
stals.
