Abstract
The reactions of 2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-carboxamide with ethyl 3-amin ocrotonate and related compounds have been investigated and shown to r esult in the formation of a variety of unusual complex polyheterocycli c structures: derivatives of [1]benzopyrano[3,4-c] pyridine, [1]benzop yrano[3,4-c] azocine and [1]benzopyrano[4,3,2-de][1,6] naphthyridine h ave been isolated, acid their structural assignments confirmed by spec troscopy.
