Abstract
The Harmonic Balance Method (HEM) allows an efficient determination of the steady-state solution of mildly nonlinear circuits; however, in t he presence of strong nonlinearities, it often fails to converge. The reasons of such behavior are investigated in this paper, In order to i mprove convergence, a modified HBM technique is presented, based upon the idea of filtering used in sampled data systems, This technique has been successfully employed in the simulation of strongly nonlinear ci rcuits, such as periodically switched circuits. Results are reported t ogether with the details of the method.
