Abstract
We studied the thermoelectric voltage of germanium point contacts as a function of temperature for various contact sizes and doping concentr ations. Reduction of the contact area causes a decrease of thermopower that originates from quenching of the phonon-drag contribution by bou ndary scattering when the mean free path of phonons becomes larger tha n the contact size.
