The results of an investigation of the Chernobyl-born Cs-137 behaviour
in bog ecosystems of Belarus are presented. High radioisotope concent
rations have been established in bedrock, bog water and soil solutions
. A zonality in the Cs-137 distribution in soil solutions has been rev
ealed for the first time, whereby the higher radionuclide concentratio
ns are typical of water layer found closer to the bedrock, as compared
to those in layers relatively far removed from it. Conceptual and mat
hematical (for a special case) models of the radionuclides removal fro
m highmoor type bog ecosystems have been suggested.
