Abstract
Catalytic hydrogenation of 4-alkoxycarbonyl-4-pyrrolin-2-ones gave dif ferent results depending the steric or electronic effects of substitue nts in C-5. A semiempiric study of these structures showed a correlati on between HOMO energies and reactivity.
