Abstract
We encountered a patient with chronic myelogenous leukemia in basophil ic crisis accompanied with histamine excess symptoms including bronchi al asthma and gastric ulcer. The concentrations of histamine and histi dine decarboxylase in leukemic cells containing granules typical for b asophils were similar to those in mature basophils. His histamine exce ss symptoms rapidly disappeared concomitant with the reduction of blas t cells after chemotherapy. We speculate that his histamine excess sym ptoms were induced by the leukemic cells.
