S. Osinsky et al., PRETREATMENT AND POSTTREATMENT TUMOR ENERGY-CHARGE AND ANTITUMOR EFFECT OF LOCAL HYPERTHERMIA IN-VIVO, Eksperimental'naa onkologia, 17(4), 1995, pp. 287-290
Interrelationship between tumour energy charge (TEC) and antitumour ef
fect of local microwave hyperthermia (HT) analyzed by tumour growth de
lay (TGD) assay was investigated in in vivo experiments with s.c. Guer
in carcinoma. Adenylate concentrations were determined by HPLC in tumo
ur biopsy obtained immediately before and after heating. It was establ
ished that pre-treatment TEC did not correlate with TGD. At the same t
ime, post-treatment TEC has a negative correlation with Too: correlati
on coefficient is -0.7 (P < 0.01). It was suggested that tumour perfus
ion rate before HT plays a crucial role for realization of HT effect o
n tumour, while tumour energy status after heating has a significant i
mportance for HT end-point result.
