Abstract
Ratios of Sr-90/Cs-137 and (239(240))Pu/Cs-137 have been determined in surface air by radiochemical analyses of air filter samples collected at different cities in Austria during the period April, 28-May, 9 198 6. The mean values of these ratios remain below 2 . 10(-2) and 1 . 10( -5), respectively, i.e., several orders of magnitude smaller than thos e from fallout contamination after the atomic weapon tests in 1963. Al ready few such ratios enable a quick first assessment of radiological emergency situations.
