A variety of new bimetallic aryl oxide, acetylacetonato and their mixe
d complexes, Li-2[Co(OAr)(4)], Li-2[Co(OPri)(2)(2,4-Me(2)C(6)H(3)O)(2)
] and Li-2[Co(acac)(4-n)(OPri)(n)] (n = 0, 1 and 2), were synthesized
by the alcohol-phenol/acetylacetone exchange reaction of lithium tetra
isopropoxocobaltate(ll) complex with phenols (o-chloro, o-bromo-, m-ch
loro-, p-bromo, 2,4-dichloro- and 2,4-dimethyl) and acetylacetone, res
pectively: various physicochemical and spectroscopic studies (viz. IR,
electronic and magnetic susceptibility as well as molecular weight de
terminations) have been carried out to throw light on the structural f
eatures of the new complexes.
