o compounds which were characterized by reactions with various halides
, trimethylsilyltriflate and methanol. The germenes (Me(5)C(5))(X)Ge=C
R(2) (X = F or Cl, CR(2) = fluorenylidene) were obtained by the therma
l defluorosilylation of Ge (C(5)Me(5))F(X)[C(SiMe(3))R(2)] and trapped
in excellent yields by methanol, water or chloroform.
