The addition of the atropisomeric racemic sulfur compound 1,1'-binapht
halene-2,2'-dithiol (H(2)L) to a dichloromethane solution of [{Rh(mu-O
Me)(cod)}(2)] (cod = cycloocta-1,5-diene) afforded the dithiolate-brid
ged complexes [{Rh-2(mu-L)(cod)(2)}(n)] (n = 21 or 12). These reacted
with carbon monoxide to give the dinuclear tetracarbonyl complex [Ru-2
(mu-L)(CO)(4)] 3. The reaction of 3 with PR(3) provided the mixed-liga
nd complexes [{Rh-2(mu-L)(CO)(2)(PR(3))(2)}(2)] (R = Ph 4 or C(6)H(11)
5) and [{Rh-2(mu-L)(CO)(3)(PR(3))}(2)] 6 [R = P(OC(6)H(4)Bu(t)-o)(3)].
The crystal structure of 6 was determined by X-ray diffraction.
