T. Tamaru, RESEARCH REVIEWS ON FLAMEHOLDERS AND COMBUSTION OF AN AFTERBURNER ANDA RAMJET ENGINE, JSME international journal. Series B, fluids and thermal engineering, 39(1), 1996, pp. 1-9
A super/hypersonic aircraft is expected to be realized in the 21st cen
tury, Ramjet engines With subsonic flow combustion may be used for its
propulsion up to the flight speed range of Mach 6, in combination wit
h other accelerating propulsive systems, Much research has been conduc
ted on combustion problems related to this engine, but new and additio
nal technologies are still needed to cope with the problems encountere
d in the advanced ramjet engine. By reviewing past work on flameholdin
g techniques, the author will introduce recent research results in an
attempt to resolve the problems involved in realizing super/hypersonic
vehicle engines.
