A new analysis of the optical spectrum of Kr III is presented. The con
figurations 4s(2)4p(4), 4s4p(5), 4s(2)4p(3)5p, and 4s(2)4p(3)(4d + 5d
+ 6d + 5s + 6s + 7s) have been studied and the energy levels reported
for these configurations were revised and extended to include three ne
w levels of the 4s(2)4p(3)6s configuration, 16 new levels of the 4s(2)
4p(3)5d configuration and five new levels of the 4s(2)4p(3)6d configur
ation. Twenty known level values of the odd configurations were redesi
gnated. The energy parameters were obtained using relativistic Hartree
-Fock (HFR) calculations. Configuration interaction Rydberg series hav
e been included in the calculations and calculated lifetime values for
the energy levels of the odd configurations are also presented.
